This gun has a 1-12 twist and I was hoping that someone might be loading for one of these and have some experience that they would be willing to share.

It is my understanding that this twist favors the heavier bullets but again I am no expert. Lapua offers the Scenar and a FMJ-BT in the 185 but I have been unable to find the BC to compare.

Thanks

Living in Michigan, I would opt for a 11.25 or faster for 185s. But check the killer stability formula for best results. Worse case, just go shoot them and see for yourself to be sure.

Are the 185s a necessity? Why not 175s?

Because of my lack of knowledge I do not know what the killer stability formula is.

Also I was told the 1-12 twist was for the heavier bullets and that is why I was thinking along those lines.

Maybe I should try the 155-165 grain for this gun. That is why I posted thinking someone might have one of these guns and be able to guide me in the right direction.

The factory sent a test target with the gun and they used 175 FGMM to achieve a group of .35 at 100 yards.

Lapua does not offer a 175 grain so I was looking at the 185.

If you cannot reach the lands with the seated bullet, you may not have any luck at all with VLD-style bullets. My 700P had such a long throat that, for all of my trying (and time and money wasted) I could not get it to shoot VLDs. It shot Sierra 168's and 175's very well.
