Best .223 AICS type mag

Anyone able to load the heavies 80+ in the MDT mags and fit them? I've got a 700 223 action that I want to build another rifle with, but if I can't load the heavier .224 projectiles and fit the COAL then I would rather open the bolt face and make it 6mm whatever.
That's pretty good. Did you have to file the mag? Also, if you don't mind, what is your average velocity with the 80 gr ELD-M?
My AI works most of the time. Only occasionally a round wants to pitch down instead of up. I have heard that this may become more of an issue in the future as the springs don't do so well over time. I have not yet had an issue with the mag splitting in half though I hear this can be a problem.
I have 2x MDT's. These fit very tightly in the bottom metal of the .223 and actually don't fit in one of the AICS compatable chassis's that I have on hand . I expect they are a bit over spec on size. My steel .308 MDT mags fit that chassis fine BTW. These .223 mags are sprung more ridgedly than the AI and don't have any issues diving. I may file the feed lips just a pinch to point them up a little though as the rounds currently have to be pushed harder than I would like before they tip up. Basically, they work but I am not in love.
I haven't tried the accurate mags because with MDT's 50% off black friday sale I went pretty all in on those.

Thanks for all the info y’all. I’ll likely try to hunt down some MDT poly mags first, and give them a shot. They seem to be sold out everywhere I’ve looked.... guess I’ll just have to keep tryin to track some down. If they don’t work out, I’ll drop the coin for the accurate mag and hope they work.

Not sure why Accurate makes the inserts like that with the "lip" up front, just use a rat tail file or a round burr bit on a dremel and remove the lip at the front of the inserts until it's even with the rest of the insert body. No more snagging the bullet tip and gives you a little more OAL capacity too.
I have both MDT and Accurate 223 mags. Both function fine. The MDT mags are much cheaper, but in my rifle they also require LOTS more bolt effort to strip the first 3-4 rounds out of the mag when it's full. The Accurate mag is smoother with the same effort & feel from full to empty.
for ease of finding and cheapness, I've been using the poly mags that Ruger issues with their scout rifle. they feed great and hold 10 down. I had to file the lips to get them to fit my tikka action, but after that I've had zero issues. I'm sure they'd work much better in a rem style action that isn't so flat on the bottom like the tikka. They can be found for $25 bucks pretty easily.
