Hello,

I am new to this site. I have finally saved and bought myself a Savage 110 FCP in 338 Lapua with Vortex 6-24 PST FFP MRAD scope. I just purchased 100 rounds of Lapua brass.

The question I have is what bullet shoots best in this gun? 250, 300, or different weights.

I am looking at the matchking, hornady match, Nosler match, and of course Lapua.

Just shooting targets and steel no hunting for a while with this rifle.

Thanks,
Trent

I shoot the 300g Berger Hybrids as they have a hunting version with the same BCs as the target version so I don't have to have 2 different loads. I stay with the 300s as there's no need for me to shoot anything else. Every bullet you listed is a great choice but IMHO if you're shooting a 338, you're shooting at extreme distances and want the best performance at those ranges which typically dictates 300g bullets.

edt: The thread Peacatwar posted is an excellent place to start. And save yourself the money and time and just start with Retumbo.
