Suppressors Best can for an AW in 300 win mag

Re: Best can for an AW in 300 win mag

Lowlight is truly enamored with the TBAC suppressors. I have a YHM 7.62 with QD but have not gotten around to trying it on my 300WM yet. If I had it to da again, I would not go with a QD or a YHM. I think there are newer and better mouse traps out there.

Yes. In my little bit of unscientific experimentation I have seen shift but I have only tried that with the 175 SMK. I zeroed with the can on and when the can was removed impact went up 1.5 MOA and left 1 MOA. My barrel is finished at 18.5" and is a pretty stiff contour.

Some suppressors have more "freebore boost" than others. It is not desirable to have a suppressor change velocity because a change in velocity can obviously affect point of impact. It is one of the potential contributing factors to POI shift.

I have a few thousand out of a TBAC with a 300 win. Great suppressor! I have black and green in stock with AI threads (M18x1.5). The group buy going on will save you a ton of dough also.

Re: Best can for an AW in 300 win mag

My "host" to this point has been the beauty of a stick you guys put together for me last year. I am using H4895 with the 175 SMK. It is a little slower velocity than I would normally shoot but it is consistent under 1/2 MOA. I would think that barrel harmonics would have more to do with it than anything else but then I am just a newb when it comes to cans.
I just don't see how you can hang anything off the end of a barrel and not see a shift between it being on or off the rifle. I am fully aware that some suppressors will have less effect than others due to internal variables and weight differences though. Is it possible that some companies have figured out how to engineer out the harmonic issue. Forgive me if I am not being clear about this but I am not well schooled in suppressor "shop talk".

Re: Best can for an AW in 300 win mag

Have a elite iron bravo can which is a standard screw on can. On my heavy barrel 300 win mag, there is no significant change (1/2 inch) of POI. However, on my medium weight 308, the suppressed loads shoot about 1.75 higher. Both shooter higher suppressed. But the good news is that it's repeatable (at least so far) and seems to be a consistent shift. Of course, timing is everything and I sent both guns to elite iron to be threaded to the can. It's a heavier grade military can but very effective. And the groups are tighter suppressed on the 308 and about the same on (no decrease) on the heavier barrel.
