Rifle Scopes best choice for a $500.00 2-10 or so scope?

I've a Nightforce 2.5x10 on my truck gun and I can't keep beating the NF up so I'm looking for something in the $500 range that will kinda fill the bill. Would like knobs and low profile, compact in size.

Look @ the Nikon Buckmaster line (no turrets yet), or the Monarch. You can order them with turrets. Nice scopes for the $$$.

Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40 would probably be a decent value.

Or better yet, wait 2 months for the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44. Knobs, illuminated, etc etc.

I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything; but, I thought one of the selling points for Nightforce was their scopes' durability. They're built to keep going through conditions that would cause other scopes to fail. Put the $500 scope on a safe queen and keep the Nightforce on your working rifle.

the Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 with CDS elevation knob is $499 right now at most places, and that's the route i went. i have one in the mail right now.

and i have a NF NXS but i want smaller/lighter on this rig.

"no turrets yet"? Mine came with two sets, high and low profile. I agree though, a good choice if you're gonna go for a lower cost scope but I'm inclined to think as Natty Bumpo. NF's are supposed to be built to use, why fork out all that money for somthing you're gonna limit yourself with? Just a thought.

I tend to beat my truck gun up and for some reason I can't watch the NF get dinged up. I have 3 other NF's on other rifles that get a ton of use, but I'm a little more careful with them.
This rifle bounces around in the cab too much. just don't want to watch my $$ go away that fast. Hmmmm just had a thought, maybe a scope "coat" would be the ticket.
