What is the best factory .260 currently available. I'm looking for light an accurate and am leaning toward the Savage, but which model? And is Savage even the way to go?

The Savage .260 is a good rifle. If you want to spend more money the Sako TRG ,260 is freakin awesome

I believe Tikka also chambers rifles in 260, but I would go with Savage. WAY more aftermarket support.

Is there a Savage model that's better than the others or are all the barrels the same a far as accuracy is concerned?

if you want light and accurate, go w/ the Predator Max 1 in 260... Savage chambers 260 in heavy target rifles and super light sporters.... IMHO... the Predator Max 1 is a good compromise.

I like the 12LRP over the Predator Max. Yes, it weighs more, but that's not just because of barrel contour.
It's has the HS Precison Fiberglass stock rather than the flimsy Savage synthetic stock and it has the beefier target action.

Get a savage target rifle. I believe they have one that comes in a hs precision stock.

Euro optics got together with sako and had these built in the factory. These are only available through Euro Optics.

I have a savage 260 with the choate ultimate varmint stock though, shoots .25 - .35 moa with premium hand loads, took at least 50 foxes and groundhogs, it wears a millet lrs scope 6-25x56.

I have a Savage 260LRP. With scope and bipod, it's almost 15lbs. A very fine rifle but NOT light.
The HS Precision stock is nice tho.

Yeah the Predator Max is much lighter. Will probably just change the stock out later

Mine is definitely heavy as well but i have hunted large boar with the woodleigh 160gr bullets.

Just had one in my hands, a few days ago. Search Gunbroker for "Tikka Sporter". One of the shops that has them is just down the road. Not cheap, but damn nice.
I've really been eyeballing the LRP, though.
