Rifle Scopes Best intended use of the Nightforce NX8 1-8

Hello all,

What is the Nightforce NX8 1-8 best intended use?
(It will be on a 16” 5.56 AR and will replace the Trijicon MRO - what currently serves as described below)

Is it for a medium range DMR rifle where the distance capability is more important than the 1X cqb performance? (This is my belief when it comes to the NX8 1-8 )
Or is it a red dot, what you can dial up to be able to make longer shots where 1X cqb performance is more important than distance capabilities.

I bought the NX8 in case of a civil disobedience, (what started to take place as we speak...) and to shoot close to mid range uspsa type rifle only matches, where about the 80% of the shots require fast 1X performance.
I wanted something what is FAST at 1X and I can reach out further than what my naked eyes allow with the red dot.


The Razor is way too heavy, Kahles is a little too expensive to sit on a rifle what I don’t really shoot.
I like the size and the light weight of the NX8

Size and weight always come second to shootability. The NX8 lacks that. I would take it back and get a G3 razor personally. Its a much more capable optic.

Better glass, better eyebox, bigger tube , better reticle, ect.

Really odd positions may pose a problem if shooting at 8X. Has a small eye box, but not unusable. I have one on a 12.5" SBR, and it works just fine for my needs.
