Does anyone know of any 6x45 varmint style ammo for sale? I picked up a rifle in it but can not seem to find any loaded ammo that is not two dollars a round! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Well...there's reloading, then, also...reloading...followed by (yep...you guessed it)...RELOADING!!!
The ONLY manufacturer of 6x45 QUALITY ammo that I'm aware of is Cor-Bon (they have a 62gr Varmint Grenade load that is lights-out, as well as some match loads and others too...around 4-5 different loads). They run ~$35-40/20, but finding it is not exactly an easy thing to do. Check with Cor-Bon directly to see what they can offer you or get online with their dealer locator and see if anyone near you might have some.
Now...back to reloading...you can beat the average Cor-Bon price per round by a LARGE margin and get your money back out of your basic reloading equipment and supplies within 1k rounds I'd guess based on the current market (not counting any amount you put on the value of your time spent reloading).
A few years ago I found a vendor at Shot Show that was showing off their 6x45 ammo, I didn't get a price on it as I was loading for it already. I use my Dillon RL1050 set up to process 223 brass, in the very last station I put in the 6x45 size die with the decapping pin removed (just the expander ball present). I figure I am loading for about the same price as it costs me to load higher end 223 ammo (.50-.70 per round).
I don't know if any is being made today, however; there was a bunch mfg. and head stamped as such a few years ago, this was about the same time High Standard was mfgs some 6x45 weapons for mil consideration, they ended up selling their uppers-I saw an add for them in the ShotGunNews.
