Best powder for short barreled 6.5CM

Hey all. What powder do you recommend for a 16.5 inch barrel 6.5CM? I’m new to the 6.5 game and im excited to see what I can do with the light-shorty.

Also small or large primer... I’ve read so many threads and the consensus is small is better so is Lapua brass worth the price of admission?

I want to try different weight bullets to see what the rifle prefers. Someone should invent a starter pack where you can get 15 of each them. 123, 130, 140, 142, 143 And 147...

I'd be curious to try lighter weight bullets with varget if it were me.

I have had good luck with 140 Bergers and Varget in my 18 inch, so I would suspect that you would be good to start working a load up with a similar combination. I don't have my load data in front of me, but I do remember that part of the combo. I have been using Hornady brass.

I run Berger 130s and Varget in my 18”. Get 2790fps with it

Almost identical to mine there TNC. Varget seems to do well in the short tubes.

If you need to get a compete burn, something in the Varget RL15 range will be good. If you want top velocity. I suspect H4350 RL16 will still get it.

Varget would be my go to. Was running 130gr ELD-Ms out of my 18" 6.5x47 up to 2750 or so IIRC. I settled on 2715 before parting it out. RL16 got it there as well FWIW. I ran 123s at 2850fps with RL16, compressed though.

I am shooting suppressed so I want to get it all burnt before the muzzle if possible

My guess would be varget as well. I wouldn’t be scared of trying cfe223 as well if it was mine.

I,m running Hornady superformance in a 20” barrel it has been good and added 100 FPS over 4350
