I've read the limited posts, and I know how to search but I know more folks are trying this round.

I finally shot my 7-08 at 1000yds to be sure my old barrel would stabilize 162 Amax's. Well, I got no reports from the pits of keyholing, so now I guess it'd be worthwhile to try another powder than my do-it-all IMR 4895 (popped the occasional primer at 40.3gr/2720fps).

What should I get a pound of to start off with? H4350, RL17, RL19, others??

Its 100*+ degrees here, and once I find a powder I'd like to use it now and when its 50*, and I'm looking for enough velocity to get to 2800fps with the Amax's. I have Seekins mags, so I can load to 2.935" or so.

Steve,

I always liked RL-19 in the 7mm-08, myself. But H4350 is very good as well. Hard to go wrong with either.

Note: I have not tried any RL-17 yet.

Hmm, Varget has been a solid performer with w/175 MK's. I know that's a lot heavier bullet but those powders seem slow for what I'd be trying, JMO.
