Got several thousand .223 with crimped primers, looking for a good reamer. I have tried the Rcbs swagger it sucked in my opinion. The lyman hand held reamer was slow and didn't completely remove crimp. I also tried using a drill bit like some suggested and wasn't crazy about that either.

Thanks Corey

The Dillon is good.Wilson makes a cutter that works in their trimmer, but it will fit in a 1/2 inch drill chuck. Both work ok,just depends if you want to cut or swage. Lightman

Use the pointy end of your "lee, rcbs, whatever" Chamfer tool, one quick turn with your hands is all it takes with a 223 case. Very easy and fast. Just a quick twist with both hands with it inserted with handshake firm pressure to each other and its done. The crimp isnt that significant. I do use the dillon swager on the 308-30'06 brass.

You don't want to overdue it. I don't like to chuck them up because If you overdue it you will get some gas blowby. That is a REAL bad thing.

I have those Wilson reamers for .223 and .308. I never knew you could pull the cutter stem out of the rear piece until I read this and checked mine out. Can you get ahold of the stem with your drill and still use the cutter stand for alignment? Now that would be sweet. Time to experiment. Otherwise, alignment would worry me re: reaming more and in places other than where I wanted to.

Other than that, the Dillon is a great improvement over the RBCS, although I put thousands of cases through the RBCS before the Dillon existed.

Re: Best primer pocket reamer

Get a Dillon Super Swedge, they are a 100 bucks, you tube it, add the string rubber band mod to it and you can fix 400 cases a hour

Re: Best primer pocket reamer

I use the Dillon Super Swage. My thinking is that the only thing a primer pocket is going to do over time is to open up, and that removing brass isn't going to help with that process.

There is a swaging tool called the Hart Primer Pocket Saver which can restore expanded primer pockets. The problem seems to be that it is made of soft materials and is not as durable as many would like. Given some opportunity to observe on in action, I'm guessing there might be a means of reproducing the process that deals with the durability issue. Some day I may even get my act together and try it myself.

I have a Dillon super swage and despise it.

Try something like this:
