Rifle Scopes best quick detacable mount for ar10?

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

LaRue Tactical makes pretty nice stuff from what I have heard, also you might check out the American defense arms stuff.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

LaRue makes some very nice ones. Have one on my Bushmaster Predator with a Mark 4 10X. Holds it's zero perfectly after being removed.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

i like the bobro, the larue is nice, but you don't have to adjust the bobro. i'm really excited about the GDI mounts

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I use an adm mount. It is pretty nice and not real pricey. Quality is on par with larue. It really comes down to adjustment. Some guys I know don't like the way my adm mount adjusts rail tension. It has 2, 6 sided spring loaded screws. They said it didn't offer up enough adjustment for them. It was either too much or too little. I cant complain however.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I have not yet owned ADM but have heard good things.

I have owned a bunch of LaRue mounts and all have been perfect.

I have a 30mm Bobro as well, it is also good, but cost a good bit more. If I buy something with a Bobro already on it, I wont have any problem keeping it, but if I buy the mount, my money is going to LaRue.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I really like the GGG accucam's had three, down to two as my 34mm AR10 dreams went away, fellow board member here got a great deal on it too!

I suggest against the KAC's overpriced and not QR

What is GDI coming out with? I checked out their website and didnt see anything regarding scope mounts.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

Well, i like the adm too.. so its between bobro and them.
I am more concerned. With quality than the price.

Thanks. For your help.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I'm making the same choice for the Noveske N6 I recently aquired. Also leaning towards the Bobro or AD mount. Then there is the confusing (to me anyway) of which style to order... standard, slightly forward or extended mounts. Andrew Bobro suggested the extended model 201 model which apparently is .75" additional offset compared to their standard 200 style. I imagine much of this selection is based on personal preference and the size of your scope, rail space etc.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

Larue SPR....I have three of them and they all work very well....

It will depend on the eye relief of you scope and your shooting position.

We have the ADM and Bobro if you need any comparison measurements.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

NF Unimount and a Seekonk torque wrench in the pack.

QD's fine for SPR type rifles, but for a mid to long range weapon I'd rather have dedicated solid optics. Hang a micro red dot at 1:00 if you anticipate closer shots.

Plenty of folks did fine busting clays at 10 and 20 yards with full on match boltguns last weekend at TPRC2011.....that's actually what I'm doing in my avatar.

but QD's look really cool in the safe and in pics online.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

From what I've seen in my own use is that the cantilevered mounts are meant to cater to those shooting ARs with their noses to the charging handle running a scope with 3.5" or so of eye relief. On all of the rifles that I've had running scopes with 3.5-4" of eye relief and a rifle length stock, I used either mounts with no cantilever, minimal cantilever or just ultra high rings.

IIRC, the last time I mounted a Zeiss Conquest on top of a 20" AR, I just used the Warne quick detach rings. They worked really well and made for a very simple setup.

If you're going to be running a telescoping stock, then I'll give a plug for the ADM mount. I used the Ad-Recon with my 2.5-10X32 on my AR with UBR stock.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

If you want a QD that will hold zero after several times of being removed I would go with the ADM or BOBRO. If you want it to stay on the rifle with the option of when ever in need to ditch the scope then buy LaRue. If you never want the scope to come off and sitting in a nice mount go with the Nightforce or if you have some money to burn buy the SPUHR mount with the offset option for a red dot. All are good options depending on what you need.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I like the LaRue mounts, and it doesn't hurt to know that their resale value is very high if you decide you don't like it or want to go another way. Bobro and ADM are also good - very similar to LaRue.

With that scope you are not going to need the full extended so the 201 is what I would go with. I have the 202 with my 1-4x optic.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

Okay, now i have to find somebody with one in stock.

At SWFA.com ...If you look under Bobro they are out... but they are selling them SWFA branded too... look under SWFA in the mount and ring page and you'll find the SWFA branded 201.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I like Warne's new RAMP one piece...Very nice build, and it also has nice 45 degree mounting points, as well. Not a quick detach, but with the tac-nuts it's simple to remove and remount and mine has always been dead-on back to zero.

It is on the way!

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I have a ADM RECON on the AR10. But if you don't need a QD, get a good set of rings.

We don't use QD's because they are cool. We use them because we need to remove and replace an optic OFTEN. How many guys do you know who have QD mounts that never leave the rifle?

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I have an ADM and Bobro mount. I prefer the ADM as it is easier to torque the scope ring bolts with my Borka. The mount interferes with the torque wrench on the Bobro because the bolt heads are pointed down.

I always imagined a QD as a means to ditch the optic quickly without having to unscrew anything in the event the optic takes a shit.

Don't project your uses on to other people, especially when you're whole point is to tell people how wrong they are.

Feeling a little defensive are we?

I don't recall telling anyone they are wrong. Simply pointing out that rings are a better option in MOST cases.

MOST shooters will never need to "ditch" their optic to press the fight. If they do need to remove the optic and replace it with another sighting system, a small tool kit is not that expensive. I carry one in my gunbag.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I love my Nightforce Unimount, I've owned several of each and it is the lightest and is absolutely repeatable, but you have to carry a wrench and it is a bit expensive. If you are dead set on a lever go with whichever you can swing the best deal on out of Bobro, ADM, and Larue.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I was going to say the same thing eleaf. Why would you need a quick release mount? Not that there is anything wrong with them, I'm just curious. I guess if you're constantly removing your scope it would make sense, however, I've just never met anyone that need to do that.

Re: best quick detachable mount for ar10?

I decided on a Bobro 201... it's on the way. I need the capability to change optics and sometimes use a BUIS so a QD is best for me. I agree that for many people, rings alone or a fixed mount of some sort might be best.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

I currently run a Larue Lt 112 with a 20 MOA decline and I love it. To me anything that needs to be attached to my AR with be attached via Larue if at all possible. Their mounts and accessories are great and absolutely durable.

Re: best quick detacable mount for ar10?

OP, You obviously misspelled in your title...

The rest of you, you're obviously all wrong. He wants a DAta cable mount.

You might find something to your liking at best buy. What are you using that requires a data cable mount anyway?
