Is there a comprehensive source somewhere for Lapua bullets and h4350 for the 260 Remington? Hodgon doesn't list any Lapua bullets, and Lapua doesn't list any Hodgon powders. I've already loaded up some 140, and 142 SMK's using Hodgon's data and would like to try some 139 Scenars I have at the same outing. Just need min, max and a coal. Anybody that could steer me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Still new at this, and it seems like there is a ton of data out there but no SAAMI type generic start data. Thanks

Re: Best source for lapua & h4350 load data 260?

I'd say a quick search on here as to what guys that shoot that round are using and what is working best for them. I think you'll see that nearly all are using the same charge or within a few tenths of each other. The 260 is a pretty forgiving cartridge and not picky at all. I shoot the exact same charge in all four of our 260 guns from 15" barrel to 28" barrel with exceptional accuracy.

H-4350 in the 42.5 to 44gr range is what most use with the 139-140 bullets. Used to use 42.5 but had to up 1 full grain due to a different lot of powder that dropped me nearly 80fps. Never had that happen before except for this new lot. Got the velocity back to 2820fps in the rifle and sight data and accuracy are still excellent and right where they are supposed to be.

Each gun/barrel combination is different and always start on the low side and go up but the loads shooters on here should be a good starting point.

Do Scenars tolerate being jumped, or do they prefer being loaded closer to the lands? Thanks for the help, still really new at this and it's making my head hurt lol

Re: Best source for lapua & h4350 load data 260?

We used Scenars at first and they shot very well in our LR pistols, then when we built the two rifles we switched to Hornady 140gr BTHP and now we load everything to mag length which in our rifles is 2.850. I never got too carried away with all that fancy stuff, all the guns shot very well out to 1000 with mag length so we never explored it any further.

Seemed the Bergers are kinda picky about the jumping but we can switch between the Scenars, Amaxs, Hor BTHP and Sierra 142 and be within a few clicks in a pinch. Just seems like the 260 isn't very picky. Not sure what others might say but I'd load up some in the 42.5 range at mag length, if they group in the 3/8" to 1/2", even 3/4" will hit most all targets at most matches. Then get your guns/ammos information and get a printout from JBM and head out for lots of practice and some matches.

You can jump scenars without issue. My current load for my 260 is 43.3 of H4350 with a 139 moly scenar and a .020 jump.

Jump tolerance is *why* we shoot Scenars instead of Bergers... there's a reason to give up that high BC.

Price is why we shoot Hornady BTHP... and as far as I can tell, I give up nothing to the Scenars.... (just don't tell anyone...
