The backpack is just a tool. The wearer of said back pack must be at one with his equipment therefore he should be a tool as well.

i run this ... 2 Day Assault Pack now before i get chastised for this being "condor" and "air soft goon lovers" ... this pack is very well made, i use it for EDC stuff as well as my weekend warrior gear. With the MOLLE you can run just about any configuration (including a rifle scabbard)

Without knowing your specific "tactical" application, it is going to be pretty much an inpossible question to answer. Let us know what the pack needs to allow you to do 90% of the time & I'd be happy to give you some suggestions.

I am not a member of the military, but if its good enough for our serving lads and gals, it's good enough for me.
If your just after something smaller to look tacticool, I bought one of these Maxpedition rips offs.

Just got a Maxpedition Talon II from ceylonc. Not made in USA but still an awesome pack. Fits everything I need that's related to my rifle, including over 200 rounds of 308, with room for a spotting scope and a tripod strapped to the outside. Grab it and head to the range.

I am interested in this thread cause I have a question thats related: What pack did the the 8541's use in desert storm? I have a M40A1 clone and don't want to put a bipod on it.

ALICE Pack, Large. Also referred to as a "mountain ruck". Carries more shit than you want to.
