Right now I have Burris Signature Zee 30mm rings with the plastic inserts. I love that they leave no marks on the scope, but I hate that when I need to detach the scope from the base, I have to take everything apart. I've had to do this twice thanks to a scope base that keeps coming loose. Anyways, I am looking to upgrade to better rings but I really don't want any marks on my SIII. What are my options?

I just pulled my Vortex Razor out of my Seekins rings. A little smudge that wipes off, but no marks.

Buy a good base. Bed your base. LOCTITE your screws! Buy Seekins. Very good combo.

Thanks for the clarification. I NEVER use red.

Why do you need to take everything apart? I frequently take scopes off my rifles. All my scopes are in Burris Signature Zee rings. I just remove the cross-screw then slide the scope (still mounted in rings) forward off of the base.

Cant slide it, it would make contact.

Re: Better rings that Burris signature...no ring marks

American Rifle makes rings that use a different method than the industry standard of a tangential split ring.

No ring marks, excellent return to zero qualities. No zero shift even out to 500yd on my set. They cost appx the same as a set of Badgers, but IMO they're worth it. I figure it this way: If you mark up a $1600 scope and it can only be resold for $1300 instead of $1400 due to those marks alone, then the extra $50 you spent over a set of Seekins or NF rings clearly paid for itself.

What makes contact? The rail?

i use leupold mrk 4 and nightforce no ring marks.not sure what brand of ring you use is as important as being prop. installed.i always use my lapping bar to line up the rings before tighting the rings up and the do a good lapping job for even contact.
