Good Morning!

I have an interesting "problem" with sighting in my Hensoldt. I sight in for 200 Meters. This scope has 1CM clicks, and at 200 M I am almost exactly 1CM high and 1CM right. Yep, a 1/2 a click. Damn... The mounts are Seekings with a 20MOA base. No adjustments there.

This rifle WILL hold about a .25 group at that distance off the bench, so i know the rifle is fine.

Thoughts?

Jeff,

We suggest establishing the zero at 100yds. Also if the 1 cm clicks are not your thing, the 6-24x56 has .05 cm per click adjustment. Let us know if there is any way that we can help.

Best Regards,

Re: "Between Clicks" sighting in suggestions!

Buff the base under the rings w/ a Scotch bright pad, buff one side of the ring base w/ the same. And/or Add 5 in/lbs to your ring bolts and base screws.

Cheers,

Scope is fine, and this is a phenomenon that accurs with most any sighting system. Again, like everything in in the practical/precision rifle game there are tradeoffs. Smaller adjustment per clicks equal less adjustment per revolution.....plus a lot more dialing needed.

Goes to show why you need to keep a data book.

Re: "Between Clicks" sighting in suggestions!

I did not realize the 6-24 had a bit "finer" clicks. I'll have to see what total adjustment is on that one. I'll be using this for Deer this year, but don't expect anything over 500 M or so. We do "fun shoots" out to 1300 M in the mountains here, so I'll look into the other scope this spring.

Thank you for the info...

sobrbiker...

Your right about the data book. I was lucky with my S&B as it was dead on and also had the 1 CM clicks. Doc... I like the suggestion but am a "chicken s%&t" about messing up a $150.00 base!

hehehe

I'll mess around in my Delta III software a bit and see how it looks zeroed at 225 M or so. With the current setup I have no trouble with the 500 M rams, but they hit higher than I would like.

Re: "Between Clicks" sighting in suggestions!

About reloading... I hear ya all, but I HATE to change this load. It is the most accurate load I found for the gun. I'll have to play around a bit with it this spring, too close to Deer season to change now.

Our 6-24x56 has 1/20th mil clicks and not from the custom shop

Re: "Between Clicks" sighting in suggestions!

I wouldn't change the rifle, scope, or the load. Bullets only fly that straight in very simple computer models. Use whichever click as your zero for which spin drift will carry the bullet across that click as it travels downrange in no wind conditions.

That might not be my recommendation if you're score shooting in benchrest competition, but then you'd have a different scope.

Re: "Between Clicks" sighting in suggestions!

Write down the POI vs POA, and the conditions in which it was zeroed, then move on...

The POI is almost always going to be some value off, at most other ranges and conditions. IF you can somehow zero it perfectly now, tomorrow is going to be a little different. 0.05 mil is a very small value.
