Registration is open.

This course is appropriate for beginners who have made an investment in a precision rifle platform, but want to learn how to properly deploy it in a variety of circumstances.

The fundamentals of Basic Rifle Marksmanship are emphasized throughout the course, and are built on as we move on to more challenging concepts such as extending out to greater distances, or the process of planning and executing single or multiple target drills.

The facility is superb. 1025 yards of totally safe engagement distance (and we use it all), and the staff there are extremely accommodating. For a nominal fee they provide breakfast & lunch, and you can bunk in the clubhouse for $10.00 per night.

One of the students described it as a "complete long range weekend shooting vacation." I can't say I disagree.

We always get together on Friday night at a local place called Cowboy Jacks for dinner and a couple beers. It breaks the ice and we get a chance to fraternize a little with each other.

Any questions, please PM or email and we will address them pronto. Hope to see you on the firing line!

well, if there long range course follows true to form to their 2-day tactical carbine course that I just completed, those of you who have signed-up are in for a real treat!! Freddy and Mike, along with Rey, are superb instructors. I've attended enough courses in my training, life dating back to 1992, with some remarkable instructors, e.g., Ken Good, Mark Warren, Vern Harrison, Rod Ryan, and these Black Hat guys are "good to go."

What I especially liked was Freddy and Mike's protocol that exposed our weaknesses so that we had as a clear an idea of what we needed to work on, as well as the information from them about how to work on it correctly

In addition: Range safety - check; personalized instruction - check, even with 18 students! No egos - check; instructors shoot the course of fire - check. When I consider that I was able to get 16+ hours of training at my local range, for such a reasonable fee, well, I count myself as a lucky man. When I get my scope from George in the group buy, I'm sure gonna sign up for their long-range class.

Any of you all on the fence, go for it.

Thanks Doc,

We are happy to hear you got a lot out of the course. It was a great group of shooters to work with. Seeing the improvement actually materialize in the students as they go through the course is very rewarding to me. BTW - Nice job on completely punching the X ring out of the target on day 1 Doc.

Aside of the skills we worked on, we sent everybody home with reliable and proven full distance zeroes.

DCR, Absolutely. We are working on our 2012 schedule which will include initial and advanced level courses in both carbine and long range precision rifle. We are rifle guys and we stick to what is in our wheel house.

Yeah Freddy, please put me on the list for the 2012 schedule as well. I'm interested in doing more matches with you guys and hopefully training session as well. Sooner you get the schedule out, more likely I can get the dates approved with my boss (aka wife). thanks

Fargo007,

your welcome, sir. Any time you need a recommendation for an outstanding instructional program, you can send folks to me. I'll be back with ya'll, and, hopefully, I can knock the X out again (actually, I'll bet on it)

I'm wondering just how snowed-out the upper elevations were on the range on Saturday. From the other side of the valley it looked to be a near white-out up there in the nor'easter. Hope you all were safe.

It wasn't that bad up until lunch was ready. We could see and hit out to 800Y (the C target). Everyone ran their cold bore and a high majority had first round hits. For the afternoon we brought the distant targets in a little more and worked on shooting unorthodox positions and engaging multiple targets smoothly and effectively.

We had fun with everyone at the meet 'n greet at Cowboy Jacks. That's our regular haunt whenever we run matches or courses in Lewistown. They accommodate us (and our nonsense) cheerfully.

We actually got way further on day 1 than we intended. This was a great group, and we had no trouble at all getting everyone good hits all the way out to 1000Y.

Everyone had completed the pre-course ballistics assignments and it showed. The group was ready willing and able.

Range estimation went very smooth as well with everyone showing ability to get inside the danger space regularly, even though it was their first time doing it. Instructors and line coaches had lasers and would double check the students if they were off.

Night fire was just a treat. Two target engagements, 547Y and 609Y. Again a high majority got first round hits on these. Having military grade NV there in addition to the green laser designator was pretty cool. While looking through the NV, you can see the bullet enter the laser beam field and hit the target. It looks like a fast firefly.

Once again our hosts at the club were fantastic. Cooking awesome Pennsylvania home style food for breakfast and lunch. It continues to feel more like a 'luxury shooting weekend.'

Thanks to our hosts and our students for investing their training time with BHTC. If you missed it, we will likely have another one opening up in the springtime/summer. Our 2012 schedule is in development, and is going to have Precision courses (basic->advanced), m4/carbine work and a kalashnikov course. Since we have teamed up with an SOT, 2012 may also see a carbine course at Lewistown that will include instruction on full auto fire (m4) and possibly some work on the m249 and M60.

Freddie, have spoken with Bohem about your courses (very highly rec'd) and had a chance to shoot with Mike at NHRPC on a night shoot. Please also put me on the list. I'll also be interested in any bespoke training you and Mike can put together.

Cheers
