Re: BHTC UKD Challenge June 25, Lewistown PA

Thanx for all the help getting my gun running. Hopefully I won't be having anymore timing problems here on out..... Other than wanting to throw my rifle in a dumpster, I had a great time. BHTC did a great job setting up this match. The flow worked well, and there wasn't a lot of waiting around. Taking home the spotted was icing on the cake.....

Re: BHTC UKD Challenge June 25, Lewistown PA

Thanks guys,

Getting 28 shooters through 12 stages by 1pm is something we are mighty proud of. We raised the bar on planning and organization a lot this time, and it really paid off.

Let me know if you had a favorite stage, or an anti-favorite stage. We are already coming up with new tricks for the September match.

The Course of Fire. Everything had a :60 time limit except the 1000Y stage which was :90, but with a 1 round every :20 mandate. All stages other than the flies had a round count.

Scoring was simple:

You got heavy points for the hit. 75 on a single target, 5 round stage.

Then, you got more points for every round you didn't have to send. This gives the newer shooters a chance to get on the scoreboard even if it takes them a few rounds. Nobody wants to take a page of zeroes home. For the top half of the field it also keeps it very competitive because getting it done wasn't enough. You had to do it cleaner than the next shooter, again and again.

Last match we furnished detailed target sizes. This time only the height, and "others are IDPA sized." ahem... (http://google.com).

Some targets were white with numbers on them to mark the field. Most were camouflaged. Some very well, others not so well. Shooters had to locate targets in all cases by reference based on the locations of the numbered ones off a provided target map with some of them only containing general clues. Nobody shot any incorrect targets, so this worked.

Here are the stages:

CBS - After a short hustle up the hill, 5 min. to locate a target of choice, range it with reticle, and engage. 10 points for every 100Y of distance. Do you gamble out long, or take easy money up close?

Michaelangelo - You have a paintball at 100Y. Make a pretty picture from it with as few rounds as possible.

IED Team - 3 bad guys on the road around 750Y have to be neutralized rapid bolt.

Lord of the flies - This has got to be the first match ever featuring LIVE TARGETS. You have a syrup laden post-it note at 50Y. All match long any fly landing on your post-it is a target of opportunity for 50 points (half a clean stage). Best hit goes to Macktheweldor. His had a starburst of actual blood and fly gut on it.

SBU Challenge - With your rifle at 90 degrees, engage a 12x24 sil target at 535Y. Up to 5 rounds.

1000Y challenge - 3 targets from 1006 to 1023Y. A 16" sprocket/gong, and two IDPA targets. One positioned so that no splash was visible on misses.

Cover - Locate a concealed target inside 500Y and engage it sitting.

seven-eight-nine - Locate and engage 3 targets spread out from 700 to 999Y.

Standing Orders - Standing, braced against a post at a 715Y target.

Holdover-5 - 5 targets from 275Y to 505Y. Two of them were 5" diameter.

Barricade 5 - The wobblyest barricade I ever shot off. Nuff said.

Broken Arrow - One bipod leg folded up, one down. Balance it out and get your hits on a paper plate at 500Y.

Happy shooters with some gift certificates from Berger:

Freddy, Chris, and Mike ran a great match. The syrup stage was an ingenious way to keep people interested and "on the gun" while they were between stages.

There were some of the old favorites like the IED team and the rickety barricade, plus some new ones like the hold-overs, as mentioned syrup, etc.

I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to September's match.

Thank you for all the sponsors that made the table possible, many companies were very generous and it is greatly appreciated.

Re: BHTC UKD Challenge June 25, Lewistown PA

Thanks Mike, Freddy, and Chris for putting the match together it was a great time.

My favorite stage was holdover, I hope to see more of those in the next match.

I also want to thank our sponsors, especially Berger for my gift certificate. See all of you in Sept.

Re: BHTC UKD Challenge June 25, Lewistown PA

Freddy, Mike and Chris-
Awesome match, clearly the most challenging I have attended from both a quality of the shooters and difficulty of the stages viewpoints. I really liked Lord of the Flies, SBU Prone, IED team, hold-overs. I thought Broken Arrow was pure hell, something I have never practiced but hope I learned something from it.

Congrats to Jon. It was an honor to be on your squad and watch you shot every stage with skill.

Thanks to Josh for getting an awesome prize table. And to the club for the beautiful facilities and meals.

Bravo Zulu!!!

More pics came in. Some really nice action shots too.

Forgot to mention - We didn't get any pics of it but one of the shooters had a remote camera system there that he designed and built, and we tested. It was powered by a car battery, and the system was superb. We had it on a 480Y target and you could see it just as plain as can be.
