Re: BHTC UKD Challenge June 25, Lewistown PA
Thanks guys,
Getting 28 shooters through 12 stages by 1pm is something we are mighty proud of. We raised the bar on planning and organization a lot this time, and it really paid off.
Let me know if you had a favorite stage, or an anti-favorite stage. We are already coming up with new tricks for the September match.
The Course of Fire. Everything had a :60 time limit except the 1000Y stage which was :90, but with a 1 round every :20 mandate. All stages other than the flies had a round count.
Scoring was simple:
You got heavy points for the hit. 75 on a single target, 5 round stage.
Then, you got more points for every round you didn't have to send. This gives the newer shooters a chance to get on the scoreboard even if it takes them a few rounds. Nobody wants to take a page of zeroes home. For the top half of the field it also keeps it very competitive because getting it done wasn't enough. You had to do it cleaner than the next shooter, again and again.
Last match we furnished detailed target sizes. This time only the height, and "others are IDPA sized." ahem... (
http://google.com).
Some targets were white with numbers on them to mark the field. Most were camouflaged. Some very well, others not so well. Shooters had to locate targets in all cases by reference based on the locations of the numbered ones off a provided target map with some of them only containing general clues. Nobody shot any incorrect targets, so this worked.
Here are the stages:
CBS - After a short hustle up the hill, 5 min. to locate a target of choice, range it with reticle, and engage. 10 points for every 100Y of distance. Do you gamble out long, or take easy money up close?
Michaelangelo - You have a paintball at 100Y. Make a pretty picture from it with as few rounds as possible.
IED Team - 3 bad guys on the road around 750Y have to be neutralized rapid bolt.
Lord of the flies - This has got to be the first match ever featuring LIVE TARGETS. You have a syrup laden post-it note at 50Y. All match long any fly landing on your post-it is a target of opportunity for 50 points (half a clean stage). Best hit goes to Macktheweldor. His had a starburst of actual blood and fly gut on it.
SBU Challenge - With your rifle at 90 degrees, engage a 12x24 sil target at 535Y. Up to 5 rounds.
1000Y challenge - 3 targets from 1006 to 1023Y. A 16" sprocket/gong, and two IDPA targets. One positioned so that no splash was visible on misses.
Cover - Locate a concealed target inside 500Y and engage it sitting.
seven-eight-nine - Locate and engage 3 targets spread out from 700 to 999Y.
Standing Orders - Standing, braced against a post at a 715Y target.
Holdover-5 - 5 targets from 275Y to 505Y. Two of them were 5" diameter.
Barricade 5 - The wobblyest barricade I ever shot off. Nuff said.
Broken Arrow - One bipod leg folded up, one down. Balance it out and get your hits on a paper plate at 500Y.

Get a load of this knucklehead shooting a 300 win mag, SBU prone..... ;-) This could leave a mark if it goes sour....
If anyone has more pictures please do post them up.
