The bolt is tig welded on. I really like my action, and haven't had any reliability problems. I am 1000 +/- rounds into mine, and haven't abused it either, so I cannot speak to any kind of field reliability. I suspect that it is just as reliable as any other high end custom action. The action is very well machined, extremely well thought out, and much nicer than my worked over Remington actions.

I'm planning on one of these for my build I'm doing right now. I like the floating bolt.

I have been super happy with the one I am using. In an AICS the complete build is from AJ @ Bighorn and it's a frakkin Hammer...
I can say it's one of the good ones out there.

I have a Big Horn arms action in a KMW Sentinel stock and it is my most accurate 308 rifle I own. The action is very well machined, smooth to operate and a pleasure to look at. The customer service at Big Horn is top notch as well. I ordered the action and they told me 7 business day on delivery, I had it in 4 days. I highly recommend them as a custom action shop.
I have had a lot of customs..... but a GAP built rifle on a Big Horn Action is truly a laser.
