Well, it seems a couple of people were right about Big Horn being the upcoming make of actions. So much so, that when I decided a 6.5CR would be a cool rifle to have I asked Bohem (Josh) what I should get built. I did NOT want another 3 year wait for a custom rifle. So, he went about making me a 6.5CR on a Big Horn action (the old style tactical action). This was about two years ago now. Here's the barreled action in all it's naked glory

This rifle is every bit as accurate as the TacOps I used to have and that in no small part thanks to Mark at SAC for the bedding job he did in the Manners T2A stock it's ended up. The only issue I've had with the action was the bolt release spring giving out and needing replacement and the ejector needing to be cleaned (is that an issue..?). I made the poor decision of coating the whole action and bolt which immediately reduced the out of the box smoothness. Had that sandblasted off thanks to AJ and now it's glass smooth.

So always liking more of a good thing, Josh has nearly finished my latest rifle - a .223 in a Big Horn (new model) action in a Rock Solid Chassis. I'm waiting for the Timney trigger to arrive. an interesting note, he said that the concentricity of the action was good enough for him to not feel any bedding was necessary.

Technically this is my wife's rifle but I'm going to be 'testing' it for her in CO at the expense of some prairie dogs in May...

Being the type that practices what he preaches, here his rifle with a lefty Big Horn. I like what he's done with the Fire/Safe lettering. May have to satisfy my bling lust with some of those touches. Notice this is his competition rifle so that stock is 'well used'...

Now I just need to save some pennies for the next Big Horn build - a 30-06...

If I were to build a rifle ever again (thanks a lot AI) it would definitely be on a Big Horn!! Very nice rifles you have there, I like the contour of the barrel in the first pic.

I plan on building a BigHorn 300WM. I will have a BH one day. Great build, I remember that barreled action, it was my screen saver for awhile.

I too would do my next build on a Bighorn, but my next build is done(I think, Chad) Very cool rifle indeed.

wow - as the utterly amateur photographer who took that photo I'm very flattered and thanks for the other nice comments. I suppose Bohem can take some credit too for putting them together...

I'm looking forward to seeing how that .223 shoots. The weight of the stock should make it an almost non-recoiling rig which was the intent for the wife. Bohem makes cans as well so it has a threaded barrel for the occasional night shooting comps. With subs this will be one silent but violent shooter.

You flatter me, I'm glad to hear you appreciate the work. Now you need to get out and shoot some matches with us!

Ahh, you've been listening to me blather on about that cartridge eh?

AJ's actions are nothing sort of fantastic, they're probably my favorite action to work with at this point because of the manufacturing quality and inherent sleek operation they give in a finished rifle. I am regularly impressed with the consistency that comes from opening the box from Brighton. I have had actions where a fluted barrel and muzzle brake from 1 action not only headspaced but also timed up properly on a sister action.

Got 2 Bighorns myself for upcoming builds. Great quality products that are a reflection of the people behind the product.
AJ & Diane, 2 of the best.

+1 on the Big Horns, they are slicker than my ass after taco night. Double +1 on Bohem's work. His attention to detail and the tricks he has picked up over the years really shows in his product. I will post some pictures later, All I have are shitty cell phone pics that don't do Bohem justice.

Thanks a lot Robo - now the next time I cycle the bolt I'm going to be thinking of your giant ass!!
