Buck was bedded at the top of a steep canyon wall facing me as I entered the bottom. Kind of a tricky shot at 500 yards had to thread it into the white spot in his neck. The 140gr HVLD hit poa and exited between his shoulder blades.

Saw your first post and sent Erik Rowley a screen shot and he said you were whom I got the 15's from. Small world!
We werent so lucky on the draw but our house did manage to draw 3 Unit 222 cow tags, so I understand when you say youll have a little slice of heaven.
We joke amongst my friends, after a one and done 1600 yard cow elk shot last year, that we have a record to beat ;)
Anyways, nice buck and hope to meet you this October.

We did good in the draw this year. I have an antelope and cow tag along with my first choice deer tag. My dad drew a great late deer permit along with my son drawing the same unit 11 tag as him. Just got done booking my elk clients for the early rifle season so we will be busy again this year.

It does a hell of a job on deer. I only used it on my clients bull after finding out he had no clue what was going on with his win mag. If I would of had anything bigger I would of went a different route. The bull was quatering away slighty and he landed the shot perfectly. I will say it dropped him like thunder, but I think if the shot would of been less than perfect I would of been in for a good track job. I love the round and I wont take anything away from it but not quite enough for big bulls in my opinion.

Never seen the need to anneal a Hunting Vld. They've all been quite explosive once they made it to the vitals for me. I should of gave clarification these were hunting Vld's not target. Killed a bunch of shit with bergers, Ive never had a failure. I guess you can call it lucky but if thats the case I sure have had a lot of bad luck with other brands.
