Going over what I'm wanting to put together for my upcoming build and might have a problem. I know that the Bighorn action is a Remmy footprint, but their tactical action is .300" longer in the tenon. I've already have my stock ordered with the mini chassis. Will there be a problem with the recoil lug location in the mini chassis? Will it just be a fix of milling out the lug location and bedding the lug area? If I'm going to have to pay to get it bedded for this, what is going to be the advantage of the mini chassis over another dbm and having everything bedded?

Re: Bighorn tactical S/A and Manners mini chassis?

I run that setup except I had Manners cut the mini-chassis for the longer tenon.

I suggest you call Manners and ask if they've inletted the mini-chassis yet. If not then tell them what the fix needs to be.

If they have, ask them the same question directly.

Awesome thanks. I ordered it a month ago, so I bet it hasn't been inletted yet. I'll call to make sure though. What stock and barrel contour are you running? Any pics to share of what your setup looks like. I'll be running a T4a and a light palma, maybe standard palma. Haven't fully decided on that.

I'm getting one of those as well. I have everything for a .308 build except the action. Going with a TacAW action for the .308 and Bighorn for this 6.5x47 Lapua build.

Is it your birthday or something? Dang you are the man.

Nope. Single, no rug rats, pickup was paid off in November, and I've been saving for a while to get a full custom built. My little brother will be back from deployment in July. I'm going to give him my current 308 for a welcome home/birthday/Christmas present.

Their's no way a Stiller even remotely compares to a Bighorn. Paul.

Shilen #7S shortened from 28 to 22 by whacking 4 off the breech and 2 off the muzzle (it's a rechamber job from a burned up 6.5-06 I cooked two seasons ago). It's a pretty close equivalent to a Rem Heavy Varmint now.

Molded OD green, T4, TacOps stock pack, BigHorn Lefty, All metal is finished in DuPont Teflon S. topped by a Razor HD in ARC Gen 3 rings

Re: Bighorn tactical S/A and Manners mini chassis?

Bighorn is offering two S/A footprints now, a Short Action Tactical and a Short Action Sporter. According to AJ at Bighorn the Sporter is a drop in clone for the Rem 700. The Tactical is a stiffer action with a closed top and the longer barrel shank.

I chose the Sporter for use in a KWM Sentinel stock with Integrated Mounting Block for 700 Rem pattern actions. Terry at KMW called AJ at Bighorn and confirmed it will work in his chassis. I should have both stock and action in a few weeks so we will see.

Since you are going with the mini chassis the Bighorn Sporter may work for you as well.

Give AJ a call. He's a great guy to talk to, and can give you the run down on the benefits of each of the actions.
