Pakistani lawmakers had to withdraw a bill aimed at curbing the practice of child marriage after a prominent religious body declared the legislation un-Islamic.

The bill, which proposed raising the marriage age for females from 16 to 18, also called for harsher penalties for those who would arrange marriages involving children. Despite the laws in place, child marriages, particularly involving young female brides, are common in parts of the country. It’s estimated that some 20 percent of girls in the country are married before they turn 18.

18 is a bit old for getting married in those countries, 14 to 16 is more in line with the norms (much like it used to be here).
And since in an Islamic state, all laws must conform to the Koran, what did they expect?
Next someone will be surprised that they reject freedom of religious speech.

Banning marriage to children aged 6 is unislamic. But I guess we're not supposed to mention that about the satanic pedophiles. Religion of peace and all that bullshit...

Enlighten me as to chapter and verse where it tell’s Mary’s age?

I doubtful and open to reading and learning something I didn’t know.

If you believe the Bible, Joseph had nothing to do with her being pregnant.

Keep in mind for all my fellow Christians out there that Mary, you know, Jesus mother was only 12 when she was knocked up by Joseph who was an old man.
I know no age, Joseph was just a guy, not Jesus's father, and she was conceived by the holy spirit

We might not want to cast too many stones at minimum legal marrying age, we're in one hell of a glass house. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...me-parts-of-the-us-as-lawmakers-a6921246.html

Fuck independent UK news statistics chart . I see on the chart posted that USA is all 'orange' in color, 9-13 years to Marry ??? . Sounds a little exaggerated and wrong , The whole of United states you can not marry a child that is 9 to 13 years old ? . I think I will be doing prison time here in Oregon for shacking up with a 13 year old .
1 state of 50 states is not the whole lump of a N. America continent , with the exception to the rule seems to be Massachusetts .
In Oregon, here it is 18 years of age for marriage . but 17 a girl can get married with parental consent . I am pretty sure that is the case in majority or pretty close/similar in All State in US .
.

I’ve heard of 15 or 16 by emancipation and such but that Mass law is likely an old outdated law from the 1600s that never got taken off the books.

A good deal of the states you could get married between 14 to 16 depending on parental / court consent rules.
Makes sense anyways, 18 is a stupidly old number some politically correct idiots came up with that has no real bearing to actual history, biology or average reproductive activity.

Very true. It really is an arbitrary number that has been accepted as some kind of rite of passage for entry into adulthood.

Why does the government get involved in marriage at all, marriage is a contract between two people, if under 18 they should have parental or guardian consent, as in a cosigner fr a car loan.

Side Note here

I got married at 20 while in the Army, I had to get a letter from my parents giving their permission, notarized in NJ and sent direct to my Company Commander in Germany before they would allow me to get married.

All that ' Grey ' color area is stated that there is ' NO age floor ' . I will not check every State that is in the Grey colored area on that chart . but just in ( 1st 5 ) states I did on a quick search gives me the true ages for 'State legal' marrage .
