Billet matched receiver sets for .308/7.62?

Re: Billet matched receiver sets for .308/7.62?

Mega Machine Co. MA-TEN - this is a new entry into this market, but Mega has already established quite a reputation as a solid company. They have been manufacturing AR-15 uppers, lowers, monolithic railed uppers, etc. for AR-15 for some time. The MA-TEN platform lets you build a 308 semi-auto rifle and pick and choose the best components available. There is another member on this forum that is putting together a group buy. I plan to order one and build my first 308 platform AR.

Well F*ck.

If I am reading this thread right, Seekins is coming out with a new upper and lower and Mega is going to make a monolithic upper for the 308 platform.
I have just bought 2 sets of MA-10's. One is already assembled and one is at APA awaiting assembly. I should have waited.

Re: Billet matched receiver sets for .308/7.62?

Mr Seekins-

You are probably doing this, but I would put a tensioning pin in your lower. You might not think that it is necessary, but I bet that is one reason for the popularity of the MA-10 sets. I didn't buy the IRA set for that reason. I was going to build up a JD set, but the fit was too loose for my liking. For me, who shoots only for fun, it is about the feel of the rifle. I hate picking up most AR's and feeling all of that slop. My MA-10 build just feel solid, and it b/c of the tensioning pin.

anyway, I look forward to seeing your new stuff.

BTW- please don't be offended that I am offering up my meaningless advice.

Mega Machine MA-Ten. I have their 556 monolithic, and the machine quality is amazing.
The upper/lower fit is extremely tight.
