Re: Biometric gun safe question
I work in the physical security field. Stay away from entry level biometrics, they are a recipe for frustration. Unless your prepared to spend many thousands of dollars for a quality biometric system, get a good mechanical lock from Sargeant and Greenleaf(the 6730 model is the standard). They have not changed much in about 60 years-because they work! Now if your concerned with someone manipulating(it's a technique of bypassing a mechanical safe lock-look it up) your safe lock, get an Mas Hamilton/Kaba Mas X-09. It's the lock the government specs. Just get ready to spend about $1300-1500 for just the lock. However, they are no-where near as reliable as a good ole' mechanical lock.
As a side note: a (very) experienced safe and vault tech can generally manipulate a standard S&G lock in anywhere from 20 min to a few hours. The manipulation process is not 100% a sure thing, but it works more times that it fails. But you have to think about it this way, if you got folks with that skillset after your stuff, your in trouble even if you have it in a bank vault!
