I see all you sniperey/tacticool types with your bipods attachéd where the legs collapse forward, and you have to load the bipod to get a good purchase. Why not turn them around? There will be a certain amount pre-loaded. Maybe I am missing something but, when I used one like that I didn't seem to have as much of a problem shooting off a pod than I do with it turned forwards.

What sayeth thee?

Flipping backward wouldn't allow for any kind of real forward load at all. Any forward pressure will collapse the legs and soon as you load, especially on a 15lb + bolt gun. Consistency is key and most achievable when bipod is attached normally and loaded forward. my .02 at least

I have to say that on my 16" AR, the legs on the bipod facing forward would involve a potential sweep of the barrel as compared to pushing them forward. The bipod I use is interesting in that it doesn't really provide a stable platform in either (or any) direction, so I think of it more as a semi-stabilizing thing rather than worry about pressure forward or rear. Then again, I drive a Jeep with no anti-sway bars nor trac bars and it drives like a slinky.

It's not benchrest shooting... sometimes you gotta prop it up one leg and go.
