Bipod?

Re: Bipod?

If I were you I would save my money and at least get a harris, it'll hold up and they work great. That goes with out saying Atlas makes a great bipod love the one I own. Comes to personal preference and how much cash you can afford to put towards it.

Never used one of these they are a look alike of harris called shooters ridge, never used one though. Maybe a different member will personal use with them. My guess is most people will say go with harris though....

Re: Bipod?

There are a couple other options but it goes to the theory of buy once, cry once. Spend the money up front and move on, you're likely gonna end up upgrading later anyway and taking the hit. Keep looking at something used to show up to save a little cash, but at least you'll have something you can rely on and not "crap".

Re: Bipod?

I have a Harris 6-9" and Caldwell 6-9". Very similar in construction, but in overall quality the Harris blows Caldwell out of the water. I've mounted both on my AR15 and my 10/22 Bell & Carlson Target/Varmint stocks.

The Harris is solid on both rifles and there is minimal play in the notches. It has a very solid feel with the absolute only play is the swivel function for cant.

The Caldwell, however doesn't have as solid a feel. The notches have a good amount of play in them which bugs me. It also has a little bit of play (about 10 degrees) in that with the legs staying still, the rifle can swivel right and left. Thats not supposed to happen. Some additional padding on where the Caldwell mates with the stock might help, but I doubt it. But the Caldwell works okay for my 10/22 but I would not count on it being particularly reliable on higher calibers.

Re: Bipod?

harris with swivel, 6-9 (s-brm); add the pod-loc. order the whole thing from triad.

don't waste money on a cheap alternative which you'll throw away later on anyway.

Re: Bipod?

Get a harris with swivel and pod lock. Triad tactical keeps them in stock. I dont think you will be happy with the cheap stuff. I would recommend just shooting off of your ruck sack until you can afford one.

yep i used a shooters ridge, i put it on my marlin .22, it worked fine but i had to loctite the screws, they would come off every few times i flipped the legs up or down.

so i guess its really what youre looking to put the darn thing on really. you will get what you pay for, i only use harris on my go to guns

Re: Bipod?

Guess I have to be the one to do it. GET AN ATLAS. I upgraded from the exact Harris everyone is talking about. I like the different leg positions you can have, the ability to provide a forward cant, and it is rock solid. Buy once, cry once.

Re: Bipod?

had a knock off on my savage, it fell apart, got a harris, loved it, till i got my atlas, is my only recomendation now. the cant/swivel is awesome, add in the different leg positions and solidness, and it is unbeatable

Re: Bipod?

You will be much happier with a swivel, and will most likely move up to one eventually, and will have bought twice. Add the PodLock too. I have the Atlas in my sig, but I run several Harris bipods as well.
