Guys,
I have been going round and round with camo on my Coyote hunting AR that I built. I read a lot of posts about camo painting, and even though I have no creative ability I tried that out.....it didn't go well....at all. Not only was my paint job terrible, and even though I used Krylon Flat Camo colors I still had the slightest shine. I stripped it and after reading another guys post on Predator Masters, sent it off to Black Ice Coating. I went with a Desert Digital pattern, which most people either absolutely love or hate. Here is the results.

The detail in person is amazing, and there is absolutely no shine or reflection to it. It seems very durable, as I tried scratching some off near the receiver end of the barrel and couldn't, but next years calling season will be the true test. Lee was very good to deal with, and kept me informed.

Re: Black Ice Coatings

Looks Purdy. Time to take it out & give it some "character", which I'm sure'll be fun. Makes me want to go out after a few yotes myself.

What kind of coating did you go woth? It looks like they offer a few, & I'm particularly curious on the dip transfer method. Well, I mean, how such holds up to bore solvents, brake cleaner & the like.

It was WTP-274. As for the chemicals, I cleaned it right after assembly and saw no difference.

Edited for the real Camo number.

Camo looks good.</div></div>

I put that upper together. It's a custom 23" 1-10" twist .204 Ruger barrel from D-tech. The hand guard and upper receiver are Sun Devil. I have a lot of rifles, this one is my most accurate at 100 yards. D-tech can really put a nice barrel together for an AR.

Re: Black Ice Coatings

I have a Rock River upper on order in .204 Ruger. It's been 4 weeks, I'm hoping it shows up soon. Figure it should be good on Coyotes and prairie dogs if I ever make it out west for them.

You will be hell on PD no matter what you shoot, but I had a lot of surface splashes on coyotes using V-max, and SGK.

I was about to give up on the 204 for Coyotes until I heard about 35 grain Berger. WOW! They will drop a dog, and you usually can't find the entrance and unless you gut shoot they don't exit.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info.
