Probably should go in the hunting thread, but wanted to talk more about the Rifle.
Skunkworks .300WM that Mike made really light with his brake. Gun packed great.
Scope was a March 3-24. Wasn't impressed with the March. It lost zero on the plane ride there and the allen screws wouldn't stay tight on the elevation turret.. I had to snug them up 3x on the hunt. Atlas bipod with claws worked perfect in the tundra.
The gun was built on a controlled round feed Mod 70 action and a light Manners stock. The rifle held up great in 6 days of constant rain. The only complaint I had was my TAB sling kept falling off. The flush cups are just a little to big I think on the stock.
I had dope to 800 and this gun is a solid 3/4moa all day long.
Bear was just over 400yrds when I first ranged him.. I shot twice and hit him both time. We started giving high fives thinking he was down and he jumps up and runs right when he stops filming. I had to put 3 more bullets in him to drop him. It was the smallest bear we went after on the hunt, but we were exhausted. We went on several stalks and everyone was soaked and cold. We were ready to get back to spike camp. I had some serious ground shrinkage when we finally got on him. I should have waited, but we were near the end of our hunt and this one was only 1/2mi from camp. Made for an easy pack.
