Is that not a Svage 110 smokeless powder muzzel loader? it looks to me like it was way overcharged with a fast burning powder. I had one of those and sold it. It also could have been the correct charge of powder and two projectiles, one on top of the other!!! That is bad news buddy!!! Glad the guy is still alive. It could have been worse.

I've heard about these instances, I think these guys where use to black powder muzzle loaders and when they got their new smokeless muzzle loaders they loaded them with the same amount of SMOKELESS powder as they normally would in there BLACK powder muzzle, basically over charging and "viola, mom no hands"

this can also happen if you don't push the ball down tight over the powder and get a detonation. Maybe even the wrong F powder. Like FFFFg instead of Fg
