So, I'm in the process of upgrading my 1911 collection and I came across a guy named Luke Volkmann in the Denver, CO area. He makes a very lovely 1911 that I just had to have. I think Luke used to work with Ed Browne, but I digress. Anyway, I loved finding him and it got me thinking - are there other small guys who make some sweet 1911's but don't have much of a name?

So, would anyone like to post some names of some small time guys that build some awesome tributes to my hero John Moses Browing and his thing of beauty that is the 1911? And if anyone says "Kimber" then I think I'm going to hurl! I don't care what you think is the best bang-for-the-buck, I just want to know about something different.

Thanks!

Well, not really small by any means but Larry Vickers and Hilton Yam come to my mind....there was a Volkmann thread here, I want to say last year? Maybe '08? Search it...

Oh yeah, and pics or it didn't happen!
