Went shooting today with some USAammo 168 and 175 it shot ok, but when shooting the 18th round out of the box of 175 it blew the primer. I was shooting a R700 Varmint 308. Never had this happen not sure what to do about it. I read another post where this happened with some BH ammo in a few gassers. They called BH and told them about it. Should I do the same and call USAammo and let them know or try another box out?

Re: Blown primer

was the recoil any different? Any other signs of pressure. Safest thing to do is to call BH with lot numbers and see what they will do. Flame cut bolts don't help resale value, and brass is difficult to remove from the eyeball.

Re: Blown primer

Yes it was raining pretty hard, what would make it blow? It was raining on the cartridge, but it's not like they were soaked. I set up on the 600 yard line and as I was setting up it started raining pretty hard so I fired two 4 shot groups then packed it up.

Re: Blown primer

Wet round shoot funny and can blow primers. Water on the case has no place to go in the chamber. I shot in the rain once and my AI was all over the target only due to wet ammo.

Re: Blown primer

Try to keep the ammo dry... But just Shoot through it.... Milder loads help
