Hi, I have used PVS 14 forever, but now am trying out a BNVD. I'm a little confused as to the recommended process for setting focus and diopter, as it is different from any other two eye optic (binocular) I have used. My instinct is to focus each eye to infinity with the objective lens, then to tune each with the diopter. Is this correct, or is there a better system to use? Many thanks.

What I usually do is first adjust my objective to an object I can focus good on like a sign or something with sharp details. If it’s at infinity focus range great, if not, no big deal. Then I adjust the diopter to make it as clear as possible. As soon as that’s good I go back to adjust the objective if needed to infinity focus. Using a mountain, building, or something with good definition works best for me. Some people use a star. That never worked that good for my eyes.

Do this for both. Once I’m set at infinity focus if needed I’ll adjust each diopter with both my eyes open. I’m able to tell when they’re both good this way.
