After doing some reading and the fact that I want a 1 piece QD mount I have decided on the bobro QD 30mm mount. Is this the best choice for a mount with the new SS scope and an MWS 308?

I am not sure on that.
Many people don't need any cantilever mounts for their .308 guns.
And if you don't need a cantilever, you better chooose something else.

Its nothing against the Borbro, it's just that I wouldent use a cantilever if it wasent necesary such on a AR15.

The LMT MWS is a .308 variant AR, so sure it would be a good choice.

By cantilever you mean the QD mount system? I want a QD if I need to transition to iron or my acog I do not want to have to hunt for a tool or wrench. Whats wrong with a QD mount so I understand.

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

No a cantilever offsets the rings forward of the mount. This is to allow proper eye relief on AR type platforms. If its a bolt gun or a monolithic rail it is not needed.A centered mount will be more rigid.

I can't comment on the Bobro but I'm using an American defense on my MWS with great success.I would prefer a two clamp moubnt for a bigger scope as well.

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

One last question. I always though cantilever held the weight towards the back of the rifle instead of more forward. The MWS is already front heavy. Seems like moving the attachment point of the scope more rearward would help balance the rifle? Also does anyone make a scope mount, besides sphur, that has 45' slant to the rings so they do not block either your windage or your elevation?

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

Not shooting Ar type rifles much myself (I shoot M1A/M14 and boltguns) I would like to understand more. Is it a case with a non cantilever offset that you can't get eye relief? Is this just with AR's in the 5.56 calibers and not the case in 30 caliber? I ask because I find myself with both 5.56 and 308 type AR's. I feel set with the 5.56's but I am continplating what direction to head in for the 18" full railed 308. So anything small or big I may need to know would be a big help. I have no idea and am leraning as I go. But ask me anything about M1A type rifles and I am there. Thanks in advance

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

The ADM mounts use verticle rings they do not interfer with the turrets.

I dont think a couple of slots on the rail will make any percievable weight shift.Plus if you look at the mount you posted therear is in the same spot. The ADM just ads a second lever under the front ring.

If your rifle has a monolithic rail cantilever is not needed. If you don't it may be needed depending on the optic.

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

Copy is that because then I can place it anywhere on the rail? Guess that makes sense. Would I and can I find one (non-cantilever) with a 10 0r 20 moa down base?

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

Copy and thank you. Sorry for jacking the thread guys.

Valken out

PS your info DMG turned the light on on this base concept

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

I have two of those Bobro Engineering mounts. One with 2.5-10x32 Nightforce in it and the other with an Accupoint mounted.

They are very well engineered and of high quality and do not scratch the rail in any way. Both of these mount are used on Larue OBR 556.

I hope not, as I have a swedish patent on the angeled ring for magnified scopes, and that swedish patent is going to be extended to a number of other countries.
I do actually have two patents on that scopemount system.

While it looks like an awesome mount and it has incredible features this economy is killing my spending. If it were in the 250-275 range I would buy it. I do not need the level. I do not need the install tool or slot. Make a no frills "light" model and sell it cheaper I will buy one.

I worked at a computer manufacturer a few years back and developed one of the "gaming" systems which was a high horsepower machine with bells and whistles to make it lightning fast with tons of power. I thought everyone would want the fastest computer available. We sold very few of them as the price was just too high for most folks. We actually sold about 10,000-1 of the medium machines to the high end machine. Just a little tidbit of info.

You see many people here drooling over your mount. But like myself its just a bit out of economical reach.

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

I do more than well understand your economical situation and I have myself almost never bought either guns or scopes new as I never could afford it.
I almost always buy things secondhanded as I hate loosing those money that new things costs.

Of course is it difficult to find my mounts secondhand as they have been out to short time.

To make a budget model is not really interesting.
We already have over 20 models in production (and stock) and that is very expensive, to add more models is something we try to avoid.
That would likely drive the costs even higher, and our name as a quality manufacturer in the dust...

I do highly appreiciate your opinions, but I belive that if you really had tried the features in real life, you would not wanna loose the 10 degree key, the level or the interfaces....

Re: Bobro mount for upcoming SS 5x20 HD?

I just wanna clearify that I like the Bobro mount and I have noghting at all against it. Seems like a very good solution for one that needs the QD on an AR15 where the cantilever feature is needed.
Do Bobro make straight non cantilever mounts as well?

Pretty much what I'd like to know too.
