So while my gunsmith has the rifle, were gonna add an oversize bolt knob on it...

I looked at brown ells and they got the badger, surgeon and their own which looks identical to the badger one...

It seems here that the badger one is the most popular... The surgeon 'sniper' knob doesn't really seem to popular, as a matter of fact I couldn't even find a picture of it on a rifle...

I just wanted to ask of anyone has the surgeon...

I might just go with the brownells one since it's 23 vs 28 bux and looks identical... Every dollar helps,

Thoughts?

Right now I have the plastic one that attaches to the stock bolt. That was nice, but if it's gonna get threaded might as well...

Re: Bolt handles

First ask yourself whether you need one, and why. Look at your stock: will an extended bolt knob interfere with your trigger finger when you build your trigger position?

I'm a lefty, So my hand isn't even on that side...

The big bolts help when you're a lefty because you actually have to use your support arm, or come around the rifle for it... Makes it easier to grab

I like the KMW handle...

Re: Bolt handles

There is a super nice bolt handle from AZPrecision, called the "Scout". I got one installed on my Savage, and I love the thing.

Here is a pic of it...

Re: Bolt handles

I'm a lefty, I had a Badger bolt knob installed on one of my right handed rifles. I run the bolt with my right hand and with the oversized knob the back of my thumb hits my glasses.I don't have that problem on my RH rifles with the stock knob. These are Remington rifles with the swept back bolt handle.

Re: Bolt handles

I am a righty and I shoot from below freezing to above 100 degrees. I like an extended bolt handle but not the bulk many current tacti-cool knobs have.

I like the increase in leverage but not how close the bulkier knobs come to the scope. Doesn't do my grip much good if my fingers are being crowded away from the knob by the scope.

They look goofy but the old fashioned butterknife bolt handle is great for pushing open. Very slim, it doesn't crowd the scope.

Anyway many tacti-cool knobs to pick from, all do the same thing, pick what look you like.

Re: Bolt handles

I bought a Callahan teardrop bolt knob from midway for 9.99 and installed it myself. I did give it a coat of black gunkote, but if you wanted to save a few bucks, definitely worth the money.

Re: Bolt handles

Think I'm gonna go with the brownells one. Looks like the badger for less. It's not a mechanical device, so should be fine.

While at it, gonna pick up a dewey rod from them. They have great military discount. The Dewey rod comes with a jag and the adapter for 19 bucks with the discount...
