Set up a barrel yesteday..Everything went smoothly on the go-no go gauges however,it won't close on factory ammo..Action is a REM 700, caliber is 338 Federal..

After checking yes it appears the bullet is in the riflings.

Loads set to factory OAL? If they are, might need to ream the throat out a bit.

I had that with my rifle when brand new shooting factory Lapua ammo. The bullet is long and is jammed. You can seat them a little deeper if you get a seating die. I just hammered on the bolt a bit to close it and after a couple hundred rounds it was not an issue anymore.
Beware pressure spike from jamming though. If you blow a primer or have hard extraction you may have to do something besides jam them in like I did.

You can use a sharpie to completely color your case any you can clearly identify where the tight spot is agter chambering the round.
