I'm working up loads in 300wm. I've got a pretty long free bore, giving me a 3.662" OAL at the lands with a 208Amax. My H2O weight is measured.
Should I feel comfortable starting my loads at the 85% Pmax (Cyan pressure field), or should I start below this point (in the Yellow)?
How close has anyone gotten to the 100% Pmax?
I understand I can load more powder because of the extra length of my cartridge, but comparing published load data, the 85% Pmax point has got me at 2.0 grains over the max charge of a 3.42" SAAMI cartridge and almost 5.0 grains over if I work up the 100% Pmax.
Thanks in advance.

When in doubt, start low. The bullets and powder necessary to load a few extra rounds on the low end are much cheaper than replacing a barreled action or paying medical bills.

Quickload is a wonderful program that I use almost daily when researching bullet/powder combinations. It is a great tool and has its benefits, but it should be used in conjunction with actual load manuals until you have worked up loads in your rifle and established a MAX for the components you selected.
