I am looking for some input on boots. Need something durable and comfortable enough to stand in all day. Preferably with smooth leather tan or black since I have khaki pants for uniforms. Any suggestions on brands that would be with looking at or to stay away from?

Re: Boot selection

My Belleville boots have seen six years of oilfield use, and they're still going strong. I got the Gore-Tex lined model, and have worn them in everything from 100+ degrees to -30. They're very comfortable, durable, and made in the USA. I highly recommend them.

Re: Boot selection

Danner are a ++ in my book, just look at the specific models that fit your need.

I bought a pair of Scarpa boots recently for wearing down-reange and they are awesome! If I had a second choice I'd buy a pair of Asolo boots too.

Just my opinion.

Re: Boot selection

Have a pair of Asolo boots that have been with me for probably 7-8 years now. They've been up and down the mountain on a renewable nergy project I'm dealing with over in Europe more times than I can count and they are holding up great.

Re: Boot selection

Under Armour Speedfreaks. They are available in several colors. I have the black ones for duty, they are my favorites. I've had Magnum(2 pairs), Bates, Danner, 5.11(3 pairs), Belleville, and Converse. UA is the most comfortable so far.

Re: Boot selection

I have mixed feelings on my Oakley's. I've had them for over two years now including nine months in Iraq. It was heavy gravel everywhere. They are pretty beat but they are still very comfortable. I actually used them for a 12 mile backpacking trip the other weekend and my feet felt great. I keep threatening to retire them but it probably won't happen for a while.

Re: Boot selection

I have worn Danner Acadia's for the last 22 years and they are really good boots. Black first and now desert. They will last a long time and provide great protection. They are heavy though. My newest boot is the Lowa Desert Elite. Lowa's are very high quality also. These are expensive, but I was only issued one pair of feet and good boots cost.

I am a boot snob, so take it for what it's worth.

Those Red Wings are awesome boots. My dad has been wearing those for years. Re-reading the OP he didn't mention it and I guess we all just assumed he was looking for a "tactical" boot. I would highly recomend these if they fit the work environment.

Re: Boot selection

i like my oakleys and have recently put blackhawks through their paces. watch out on the oakleys and only buy the ones made in the usa not in china for obvious quality reasons. both great boots but prefer oakleys.

God... I am ignorant when it comes to some of the other brands mentioned but my RW have been absolutely awesome.

I have been wearing Redwing 877s for 30 years for work. Great boot. I recently got some LOWA boots for hot weather wear. They are hands down the most comfortable boot I have EVER worn. The first time I slid my foot in at the store I was sold. I use Thorlos socks and all day long my feet breath and feel comfortable.

Re: Boot selection

Thanks for the input... looking at redwings since we have a local dealer. Want to try on the dangers though so I will have to wait to make a final decision. And not looking for just a tactical boot....
