    Good Morning!
    Short Questions,
Does anyone make bottom metal for a 4.4, top release Savage that is AI compatible? If so, can you tell me who?
    thanks!

    Background Story
I am pretty new at this and this is my first post outside of Maggie's Drawers, but here goes.
I bought a Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 creed off the old 'hide site 4 or 5 years ago.
Last year I got a wild hair and thought I would shoot in the Border War series in Iowa, Wisconsin.
I found when trying to shoot in timed strings that the magazines didn't feed reliably. Stock Savage 10 round double stack mags.
The stock is the HSPrecision that came with that version of the model 12.
People at the last match suggested I quit using the Savage mags and change the bottom metal to single stack.
    Thanks for your help!

If you can ever get your hands on it.......pacific tool and gauge started making savage 4.4 dbm. I had the first ever PTG savage bottom metal in a manners stock a couple years ago. Hopefully they have fixed their production issues. The bottom metal itself was amazing and I loved it. There were 2 different mag release levers you could swap between, the standard straight and a "T" shape. I'm me if you want more details

Another option is to keep the Savage DBM and use Dark Eagle 10 round magazines. The even make an extended mag release lever. I've been running them since 2012 and have had zero issues. Dan is a great guy and stands behind his products.

I put a accurate mag dbm on my aftermarket GRS Berserk stock. Then Savage went and released, almost, exactly what I built.

Anyway, I needed to do some fitting to get the bolts to line up and had to shorten the bolts a bit. The rear bolt was long enough to hit the bolt body. Otherwise it was a fine fit, might have been a fitting-free drop in on a factory savage stock.

I’ve got a model 12 LRP I’d like to be able to use 10 round mags with, this seems like a good option. Sounds like you have no issues with these mags and would still recommend this as a cheaper option than inletting new bottom metal and buying AI mags?

I’ve been looking into that as well... I could give them a call but do you know off hand if they require the full rifle to be sent or can just the stock be sent for inletting? Seems like just hanging on to my barreled action and sending them the stock would be simple if that’s an option.

The only time I've used them I just sent the stock and they did an excellent job with a fast turnaround.

Yes, absolutely. I have three of four Savage rifles set up this way, a .308Win, .260Rem, and 6.5 Creedmoor. I have 4 mags that I use interchangeably between the rifles. The 4th rifle has CDI DBM and AICS pattern mags because it is a 6.5SAUM.

My workplace blocks photobucket so I can't post any photos, but here is a link with photos:

Those rifles look sharp. I’ll either go your route or the CDI route I think. No issues feeding or anything at all with the double stack mag?
