This may be really stupid, but it's late and i'm tired and trying to figure this out. I just scored a Remington 700 with a Wyatts detachable mag setup. If I feed in a round manually (just place a round in the ejection port with an empty magazine in) the case is fine. If I strip a round from the magazine the casing has some decent scratches lengthwise on the case. Is this normal for feeding from a magazine? Are the scratches from the feed lips?

I think i've noticed it in ARs, but can't recall.

Yeah its normal my feed lips scratch cases too. You can try to smooth them out with some fine grit sandpaper.
