I am looking for inexpensive options while I wait for my Manners T4A stock to be built. Has anyone tried the Boyd’s Pro Varmint stock? Can it be reworked to fit Surgeon short action bottom metal? The Boyd’s sales rep could only say it would fit factory barrel contour and factory DBM for the Remington 700 SA.

Not sure on the Surgeon part.

I have a 6X47L based on a Remington 700 SA that I put in a Pro Varmint/Tacticool. I pillar bedded it and inletted it for the Magpul bottom metal. I wouldn't call it pro-grade but it was a fun project that got me in the game. It shoots consistent .5's with 105 Hornady BTHPs, and has shot .3s with Bergers.

Boyds will now do inletting for the Magpul AI pattern bottom metal as an option.
