I have a question for anyone out there who works stocks. I bought a Boyd's thumbhole stock for a rifle I am building and I am wondering how the recoil pad is attached. Is the rubber pad just nailed on to the wood, or are there screws hidden somewhere? I did not want to start prying and pulling and possibly gouge the wood on the stock. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. I also attached a
picture of the stock if that might help.

Re: Boyd's Stock Question

It should be screwed on. Press with your thumb around the area where screws would be.

You should feel a hollow spot over the screws. Look for a tiny slit in the pad that seals up to hide the screws. Use a round shank phillips screw driver to remove the screws.

Use some spay oil where the shank meets the rubber to prevent tearing of the pad.
