Question... For those of you that have both (or have used both) the Boyds Tacticool & Thumbhole stock's for the Savage MKII,,, which do you prefer, and why? What is the advantage of one over the other? I'm thinking of restocking my MKII-FVT. I have shot the Thumbhole stocked MKII (my son's rifle - MKII-BVT) and I do like it, but I just wonder if there is an advantage to the Boyds Tacticool stock? My shooting is mainly off the bench and sometimes prone - when shooting our Sniper's Hide Rimfire Comps, and the occasional local .22lr matches. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks!

I've owned a BTV and currently own a TR. I personally like the TR better because at certain angles the thumbhole stock just looks weird. I also like that the TR has a notch on the bottom for a bag. The thumbhole stock was very comfortable gore my snail hands.
Since you primarily shot off the bench I'd go with the tacticool

Thanks for the info, Futurerider103. I had not thought about the bottom notch for the rear bag on the tacticool stock. That would be a plus for matches that allow the rear bag.

Joe, i have had both on cz, i like the tacticool better
that beening said, our TSC match, has many different shooting positions,
and for that reason 90% of shooters prefer a more tactical style stock.
we do have a weak hand stage so a thumbhole, would be a disadvantage.
also like has been said tacticool stock rear area helps control rifle better.
we do not use a rear bag in match.

Thank you Yoteman. Another thing I had not thought of (as you mentioned), the weak hand side / support side shooting.

Question: Does the Tacticool & Thumbhole stocks have a similar "angel type feel" in the "pistol" grip area? From the pictures at Boyds, it appears they should have a similar feel.
