They are made of hardwood and painted. I found that mine needed to be bedded. If you can live with these things, they are great stocks. I really enjoy the feel of mine. I wish they made one in fiberglass for a Remington 700

its laminated. its not designed to actually free float the 0.920" bull barrels for a 10/22 (i called and asked) and all three of mine (2 blasters, 1 tacticool) were drop in and snug. others have opened the channel to float the barrels in a 10/22, but then you have to do something to secure it as it will wiggle in the stock and pivot around the screw without the barrel channel being tight enough to hold the barrel.

there are at least 3 threads on this with everybodys thoughts, impressions and opinions. just gotta search but they look nice. wait for a 50% off sale like we all did if you can

Yeah I'm looking for that nice solid feel and tactical style. I like the textured coating too. I can live with having to complete a small amount of work with it, and experiment with free floating the barrel, but hopefully it'll just drop in. Mostly I just want to make sure that it is worth the money and the wait.

im happy with all of my boyds stuff. i used to buy them when the blaster design was Fajen made. plus, you can always modify it if you need to. there are plenty of pics in the other threads of nice builds

^ Yeah I was just scrolling through some threads with sweet builds. I also like that this stock will be a couple inches longer and a bit wider than my factory stock. Will beef it up a little. I'll be putting my Karsten's adjustable cheek rest on it too.

Over on Rimfire central the general opinion on them is they are a great stock for the price. I have heard several stories of guys having to modify them slightly to get the proper fit. But it always seemed like a simple DIY project. I was thinking of getting one but decided to go with a Wallis Forge.

Scott my tacticool should be arriving tommorow or the day after. I will give you a run down of my thoughts on it when it arrives.

If all goes to plan I will end up doing a little bit of work to it.

Where have you been?? These stocks have been the hot topic for 6 months or so! lol.

I've had mine for a while, and my mark II dropped right in with no mods. Got my cheekpiece mounted up as well. Painted it up real purdy and been shooting it a lot. It fits really well for me.

As others have said, these are good stocks for the 10-22. I find the LOP to be comfortable for me at 6'1" and so does my seven-year old son. If you are looking to build-up a base 10-22, this is a good stock choice.

I'm glad to hear such great things about these stocks. What about the wait time? Right now they said it's about 6 weeks for the Marlin 917. Do you guys find that to be about right?

Scott, I ordered mine on the 13th August and it got to my house today (28th oct) but failed delivery so il go pick it up from the PO tommorow.

I ordered OD green which I will most likely change.

Mods I have planned for the stock

- Install flush cups on side
- Install BT15 Accu-shot rail on forearm
- Install adjustable cheek piece
- Atlas Bipod
- Accu-shot monopod for the rear
- Repaint stock
- Open up barrel channel slightly
- Bed action into stock

I just got this email from boyds today...

"The 6 weeks is just to cover us in unforeseen problems. Your order will likely ship sooner. You will receive an email from UPS the day of shipment."

I'm hoping the 17 is a little more rare of an item and will get to me sooner due to less demand. If not it's worth the wait, so I'm good either way.
