Can somebody that has experience with these two primers tell me which is hotter. I've seen a report that even though the 450 is labeled a magnum primer that the br4 is hotter. Then I read another post where the br4 produced more velocity. I've seen German Salazar's thread on primer brisance but he does not list the 450. I'm wanting the milder of the 2.

Brad, Ive never shot the 450s even though i have some so i cant comment on them, the BR4s are pretty warm (my lot anyway).....The Wolf SR Mags are milder than the BR4s (my lot anyway)......I can give you some to try if you are gonna be in the area or have someone coming this way.

I use BR4s to ignite 46.2gr of varget in 308 lapua palma cases in temperatures down to -10F without any failures or delays. Ive used 450s as well without problems, though when velocity testing i did note that the br-4s gave me an almost immeasurable 8fps more than the 450s.

I was able to pick a few br4s up and load some before dark. I shot the br and 450 primer with identical loads for 10 rounds each. The br4 primers averaged 75 fps faster than the 450. I might try and find some wolf srm primers and try them later but I'm giving up on the Palma brass for a while. Groups are shit compared to regular brass. In my testing Nodes are smaller and have more vertical at distance. Might try 4350 instead of varget next time, seems like allot of folks are having luck with that combo.
