Hello,
My name is Mark. I was talking to my friend who is currently a Major in the U.S. Army, he recommend I come here to ask you all some questions. I'm seriously considering going back to school to learn more and get certified in Gunsmithing. I've been around guns most all my life ( I'm 55 ) and know enough to get by but can stand for a lot more of course. I would like your opinion on AGI home study course. If you have taken this course or have direct knowledge of this school , I would appreciate any and all input.

Thank you
Mark

Re: Brand new guy here

Welcome Mark
There are many talented smiths on the Hide. I am sure if any know of the AGI course they will eventually chime in. I am mostly self taught and have been receiving advice from here and a local smith in town. I have no knowledge of the AGI course.

If you serious go to a school. A home study course might be o/k for a home hobbiest, but if you want to be a professional you will learn so much more from school. You also have to develope you eye as to what truley good work is. At home that is pretty tough to learn. Before going to a school take a basic machine class and welding class. To be a good gunsmith you need to have a good understanding of both.
