What are you guys using these days ?

The Lapua is out of my price range. I wish, but just can't afford it. Same for the Nosler.

I have a GAP-10 on the way. Plan to shoot it suppressed w/ 22" tube. I'll probably send a barrel off to GAP to rechamber my bolt gun once I shoot out the 6.5CM barrel. So, eventually I'll have a bolt gun and gas gun running .260 and they'll both be suppressed.

Trying to do my research on brass at this point. I've seen a lot of posts from folks saying that the Remington 260 brass is too soft. Lots of folks are comparing it to Federal brass reporting the pockets let loose pretty quick. However, these are 'old' posts from a couple years back.

So is necking down Winchester 7mm-08 my best bet ?

It looks like running it through a FL sizer is all that'll be required to do so. Probably trim it in the Giraud to clean it up and then load 'er up.

PowderValley has Winchester 7mm-08 for about $0.45 and the Rem 260 brass is about $0.48.

What do you guys recommend ?

Re: Brass for 260 Rem ?

Semi's can beat up your brass pretty good...as I am sure you are aware. I have stopped putting my Lapua brass through my 260 AR and have gone back to the Remington stuff.

To tell you the truth, I haven't really seen any impact on my accuracy. It may not last as long, but that is OK.

Re: Brass for 260 Rem ?

I shot next to a guy this weekend running Remington's 260 brass and he certainly had a laser.

I guess I'm just curious if their brass has improved or if I'm really better off going with Win 7mm-08 and running it through a FL sizer.

I've been spoiled with my Creedmoor brass. I just load it but it sounds like that may not be the case for the Rem 260 brass.

Lapua is out of my price range too so I followed Greg L's advice and am now resizing Winchester 7-08 brass. It's reasonably priced and more durable than Rem. brass.

Re: Brass for 260 Rem ?

what i do is pick a brand of brass for my gas gun, then in the bolt, i run a diff. brand all together. sorting is easier for loading when it comes to full length sizing or just having to neck size. or even do the same brand brass, just use the 7-08 and then 260. so you know the 7-08 is only for the gas gun. i run lapua for the bolt. and just winchester for the semi. makes life so much easier.
