I am trying to stock up on 260 rem brass. Problem is, all I can find is 7mm-08 and 243 from Remington and Winchester. So far I have 100 cases of 243 Winchester, 50 cases of 7mm-08 Winchester, 50 cases of 243 Remington, and 50 cases of 7mm-08 Remington. All of these cases have been resized to 260.

Now I know not to mix head stamp, but what about different caliber? For example, will the 243 and 7mm Winchester brass differ enough to the point that I shouldn't mix them? I weighed and measured 10 cases from each bag and they all measured out very similar in weight and wall thickness. Common sense would tell me that they would be exactly the same during manufacturing, just sized to different calibers. Or am I completely wrong?

This rifle will be a 1000yd NRA prone rifle if that has anything to contribute for this.

As much as I would like to, I can't justify buying lapua brass right now.

Sizing up (expanding) thins the necks. Sizing down thickens the necks. I don't know how much nor where the differing brass started out. If they wind up the same thickness, then probably no problem. If significantly thicker or thinner the neck tension on the bullet will differ, and may be enough to be detrimental to accuracy. Try measuring the necks of 10 loaded rounds (with bullet seated) of both headstamps. That will tell you if there is a big difference in neck thickness. If so, you may want to turn all necks to the same thickness. Especially since you are looking at long range. JMHO

I measured the neck wall thickness of each case that I did in 4 spots with all winchester cases measuring .015 in thickness and all remington cases measuring .014 thick. I had the same line of thinking with the brass stretching and shrinking so it kind of baffled me when it all came out the same thickness. I havent loaded any rounds yet, still acquiring parts and components, so I cant get a measure of the neck yet.

Go Navy! HOOYAH!

Put a "want to sell/swap"ad up and see what happen's.
A guy I know traded 2 propane heater's for a scope, turn's out the scope was worth $850! He listed that scope and a guy showed up and traded the scope for a 223 Weatherby rifle/scope combo!
Try it,you have nothing to loose.
