I have a 20" 5R with SS finish that I would like to get a muzzle break for. The barrel is factory threaded and the factory thread protector is junk....looks like crap! Anyhow, I am wonding if anyone knows of a break that is the same diameter as my barrel that I could get? I don't want to get an expensive one since I use a CAN on mine but I figured I would get that looks good and works well if I decide to shoot without the suppressor. Also a big plus would be SS color to match my SS finish. Another concern is the thread space/depth. I tried a Vias break ( looked like Vias but hole were twisted around instead of drilled in staiight line and the diameter was slightly larger than my barrel. Got it used and the guy said it was Vias) the breaks threads were not deep enough for it to screw all the way down on my barrel. Anyone have any ideas, pictures? Any help appreciated?

Can you measure with calipers? Any brake can be made to fit, but I assume you just want to be able to screw it on. I use JP brakes myself, I love them. I also have POF and surefire brakes.

Your best bet for no gunsmith fitting required is probably the MRAD Rapid brake you can get from Battle Arms Development which uses a clamp screw on the bottom, or the Badger Micro FTE that uses a crush washer to time it.

I'm using a Daniel Defense muzzle brake on my AAC-SD and like it as a sub-$100 option that I can screw on and off with a 3/4" wrench if I don't want it on there. I was also surprised how effective it was for a single chamber break that measures less than 2" long and an OD of about .860 so it blends it pretty well.

I timed mine with shims as opposed to a crush washer, which worked out pretty well.

Another option is the muzzle brake from Damage Industries, a Surefire it is not but it's simple and kinda ugly with a cost of less than $20. I'm planning to get one just to see how well it works. I've heard that it's also less than 2" long and with an OD of about .855"-.860" also which should work well with Remington varmint contours.

Satin finishes vary quite a bit. It might be hard to match. One cool and relatively inexpensive thing to do to stainless is bead blast it, if you like the look of it. Then everything would match. I did an AR10T that way. It ended up looking like a Noveske barrel with the Vortex FH on it.
