Whatever... Personally I don't "break-in" anything except a new pair of shoes!
If you want to break it in, just do whatever makes you comfortable.

Get a bore guide, a decent 1-pc rod, and poke it from the rear. Other than that, it probably does not matter. Personally, I would not bother with the shot-clean-shot-clean.

agree, just make you clean it before you start..... some come out of the box with a lot of crap in the bore

Clean it once you get it......Then shoot the hell out of it.. Clean it every once in a blue moon and use a little REM oil to keep it from rusting. Dry patch the oil out before you shoot but even this is only depending on your humidity and or dampness...............Shoot

barrel break-in I feel is different with everybody , I check with the barrel manufacturer and see what they recommend. I have noticed on some rifles if you do the long drawn out breakin 1 shot n clean thing , for me I feel the the barrel cleans easier.

Here is the steps I took with my 5R, and it shoots .3's with 5 rounds.
I loaded 5 into the bag, shot and did it again till I went through 60 rounds, cleaned her and went home.

Complete waste of time IMO! shooting the rifle is breaking in the bbl.
